Lady and the Tramp knew the score - love means sharing food. So take your date out for tapas and sangria, or maybe just split a jamon sambo before siesta - whatever works for you.
The team at the Commoner are some of Melbourne's greatest locavores. They've been holding a series of events throughout the past couple of years where they encourage diners to focus on the origins of their produce, and also doing dinners to celebrate the lesser-loved parts of the beasts they consume (it all kicked off with Lambageddon in 2010 – a meal where they used all of the lamb from tongue and brain to the breast).
They will be running their 'Back to the Butcher' menu throughout August, featuring a 5-course meal of different cuts from a Wirialda Belted Galloway cow with matching wines.
They've also teamed up with a number of local butchers and are encouraging people to focus on the provenance of their meat.
