Circa, Paul Wilson's champion restaurant in St Kilda, undisputedly possesses one of the best wine lists in the country. So while wine and food matching is old hat to most of us, throwing your pennies at one of the monthly wine dinners they're holding here is far from a bad idea. Especially as they're adding a sense of competition to the whole enterprise.
First cab off the rank in this series of dinners is a four-course event that pits pinot against Burgundy, and truffles from Victoria against West Australia's other form of black gold.
It ain't cheap, there's no getting around that. But then, you're getting more than a passing waft of the fungus here, so if you are drawn to those musty jewels of the earth, this dinner is right up your alley.
