The Life of a Pig in Sound from Electronic Auteur Matthew Herbert

In a seriously intriguing and bizarre contemporary composition, Matthew Herbert, British DJ and electronic artists, will perform One Pig at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The work comprises of sounds generated by the 20-week lifecycle of a pig at a farm in Kent, from its eerily quiet birth to its snuffling, oinking maturity and its final end.
To really add to the authenticity of the event, Melbourne chef Jesse Gerner will be cooking pork on stage during the performance. This work is designed to force us to consider the industrialised process that leads from animal to neatly packaged products in our supermarkets.
