What is more Melbourne than a warehouse pop-up combining art, design, food and booze? Launching July 18, and running until the 21st, the Baron's Palate is the brainchild of Jasmin Lefers and Aaron McKenzie. Night one (Thursday 18) is the art launch, which will cost $29 a head and will include two West Winds cocktails, and paella from the arty caterers Comida Bebe designed to match the works of several contemporary artists and designers.
Over the following few days you can expect a high tea by pastry chef Matt Forbes of Vue de Monde fame ($55 - includes all the eats and a couple of glasses of bubbles); a dessert night, also matched by West Winds cocktails ($55 ticket price includes two, plus all the sweet snacks you can handle), and a night of savoury art-inspired snacks with more of those West Winds drinks (also $55, also includes two cocktails).
There's a cash bar on hand serving beer, wine, bubbles and more of those cocktails once you've hit your double drink quota.
It's a great art exhibition promising excellent eats, which beats the hell out of standing around a gallery sipping cheap sauv blanc and eating a sweaty block of cheddar.
