It can be hard to vibe off nature during winter. Your doona beckons and baby, it’s cold outside. But, in Grub Food Van’s cosy greenhouse, you can warm up under the heaters, on the worn-in sofas and by the crackling fire, surrounded by blooming plants and fragrant flowers. Better still, you can warm your belly with dishes that celebrate winter’s bounty: venison-and-quince terrine, osso bucco with papperdelle, buttered green beans with almonds, and rhubarb-and-quince crumble, for example.

In summer, Grub is a different beast. The silver bullet caravan, tethered just opposite the greenhouse in a lot on Moor St, is designed for sunny brunches. The mix and match menu ticks off basic eggs and avocado as well as premium gear such as duck liver parfait, plus strong coffee and Noisette pastries. At lunch, they're offering ploughman's platters, Moo Brew beer, Matso's ginger beer and camo net shade cloth for taking cover.

Did we mention cocktails? There are cocktails. They're tasty, colourful and decorated with blooms plucked from the plants beside you. Nothing grubby about this joint.
