Reggae, burritos and cheap beers - we're all about Cal-Mex
It’s about time Melbourne caught onto the awesome that is Cal-Mex - California’s take on all things taco. Owned and run by a real live Californian Gringo Vibes is authentic as this deliciously bastardised version of Mexican food is going to get, with super-sized quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas and burritos at (nearly) Mexican prices. It’s not traditional in any sense, but the casserole style enchiladas are a deliciously guilty pleasure. Extra West-Coast vibes hit the table via orange cheese and sour cream, and in true hippy style there’s fake meat for vegetarians too. Combined with glaringly bright table cloths, reggae tunes, five kinds of hot sauce, $5 beers and a speedy take-away menu that is just perfect for couch dwellers - Cal-Mex is our kinda Mex.
