This Hawthorn joint has been serving fresh contemporary Japanese flavours for more than 16 years
Ocha has come a long way since the days it traded from a cupboard (not actual) in Kew. It now occupies the sprawling space of the old Beehive in Church Street, offering a contemporary take on Japanese cuisine that is always interesting.
The Ocha kitchen combines traditional and new techniques in its approach to Japanese fare. The menu features local Japanese draught and bottled beers as well as a variety of sake and wines, but BYO is welcome with corkage at $7.50 per head. Ocha is also re-introducing the return of its evening 10-course degustation menu held on the last Monday of every month with no BYO corkage fee.
On more casual evenings, try its sister Ocha2Go in Burwood Road.
