A bustling laneway cafe in the heart of the CBD
Issus's bustling laneway location helps to make up for the hit and miss service at this busy café on Centre Place. The extensive menu has a Middle Eastern focus and ranges from breakfast, brunch, daily soups and salads, to heartier choices like lamb meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, topped with eggs and served in a cast-iron dish with a side of crispy za'atar sprinkled pita bread. Unfortunately, it seems to be all about quantity over quality here and the generous servings generally lack any finesse or depth of flavour.

I always prefer Centre Place - to Degraves Street as it feels younger and less organised. Cafe Issus is good - great breakfast there this week but it is not consistent - our Middle Eastern eggs was watery and not the same as usual. My Sydneysider friend told me he thought his eggs were better than "anywhere in Balmain or near there".
