Expect a knees-up good time, with good pizza, at this Prahran outpost of the pride of Fitzroy
Ladro, the pie-shaped jewel of Gertrude Street, has opened a second restaurant in Prahan. Excitingly, this venue has a large bar area with its own menu. In your face, Fitzroy.
Unsurprisingly, the pizza selection manages to be creative and diverse without engaging in any banana-bacon shenanigans. Try the mozzarella, parsley, carciuga (artichoke and anchovy paste) and lemon ‘Lazio’. At Ladro they champion fresh ingredients, which is the essence of good Italian.
And it’s not just about the pizza here either. Try the calamari – so tender it’s like eating well marbled meat – or the light, herb and citrus-infused spatchcock. Crumbed then deep fried, it’s like the fanciest chicken schnitzel in town.
