Throw a high five at the City of Melbourne council - they're letting farmers' markets come to the CBD

Good news, city dwellers. Starting this Saturday, a new farmers' market will be commandeering the Boyd Community Hub in Southbank on the first Saturday of each month – which means more time eating fresh crumpets, less time staring at smug celebrity chefs at the supermarket.

It's a proper market too. Expect to have all bases covered with the likes of Myrtleford Butter, Dr Marty's crumpets, Spring Creek organic veg, the Mushroom Co and Woodfrog Bakery slated. You can also get all the goat, pork and organic lamb you need.

According to the Melbourne Farmers Market team, now the council has given the green light, they're planning on starting weekly markets around the CBD. Onwards and upwards, City of Melbourne.
