Time Out Melbourne

Quizzing Melbourne's dirty, pretty things

Brian, 22, Student, Bourke St Mall

How would you describe your look?
There are days where I want to be quite Avant garde with texture and limited colour, but most of the time you'll probably spot me in a bad schoolboy kind of look. I like to get creative so I never have a limitation to what I wear. It's always good to experiment.

Is there a story behind anything you're wearing today?
I just picked out an outfit judging by what is comfortable and the weather change. These are basically just shorts with long johns underneath. I randomly thought of mixing them together just to see how it looked and I thought they looked great. Six months later I ended up seeing them on fashion runway shows for men.

What’s your favourite Melbourne outfitters?
I mix and match here and there, and sometimes alter or create things with my sewing machine. But if I really had to choose, I'd say General Pants, Dangerfield and every op shop, because these stores aren't limited to one look. Of the op shops, Savers will always be top of the list because my lucky days are Thursdays. I always find something good on a Thursday.
