Time Out Melbourne

American Football, beers and wings aplenty

It takes dedication to support the Super Bowl in Australia. For a start, it means getting up (and presumably, drinking) way too early. But, as anyone who's achieved this can tell you, it's totally worthwhile.

Super Bowl Party

The Waterside Hotel is putting on a huge Super Bowl party, starting from 8am. There'll be freebies, drink special and 15 varieties of chicken wings on offer. The place will be decked out in all things American and have a pop-up store with official jerseys up for sale. Melbourne.

Super Bowl at the College Lawn Hotel

Head down to the Lawn and enjoy the 49th edition of the Super Bowl in style. $80 will buy you an all-inclusive food and beverage package from 10am till 2pm as well as a comfy seat, considerately positioned to help you achieve maximum viewing enjoyment. Prahran.

Super Bowl at the Imperial Hotel

Kick back and enjoy one of the biggest sporting events of the year at the Imperial Hotel. The game starts at 10.30am, but breakfast will be available from 8am with $25 buckets of American brew on sale all day. Melbourne.

Super Bowl XLIX @ World Restaurant & Bar

Watch the Super Bowl the American way— over two massive screens with $25 buckets of Budweiser and $15 buckets of Louisiana Hot Wings. Southbank.

Super Bowl at the Prahran Hotel

From Friday January 30, the Prahran Hotel will be serving up a American football-inspired dude food menu that's hard to deny: Southern fried chicken nuggets with bacon mayo and mini dagwood dogs with spiced ketchup for a start. The big game screens on Monday morning, so arrive at 9am for your fill of meat, beer and touchdowns. Prahran.

Super Bowl at the Portland Hotel

The James Squire Brewhouse is open from 10am for all the action, as the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in Phoenix, Arizona. Not quite sure how it works – it’s grid iron and as alien to us as Aussie Rules is to them, but there’ll be American beer burgers and other US treats. If nothing else, there’s the half-time show to enjoy. Melbourne.
