Richard Nylon’s 2011 spring collection contains a mixture of metallics, pastels and brights that have “a bit of a pop art feel”. He predicts that this season women are moving away from “fluff on a comb” and back to real hats.

As well as focusing on the season’s popular colour blocking of bold, striking shades, Lindeman has focused on creating both “larger, looser beret shapes”, as well as more structured classic pieces.

This season for Paris Kyne everything is based on birds of paradise and he expects bright colours to be the main trend of the season. “Bright colours always sell at times of recession,” said the milliner.

Louise Macdonald’s collection will include straw, patent leather and feathers in all different configurations. Bright colours will definitely be big according to Macdonald who said, “People come back every season and want something bolder.”

Julie Fleming is steering away from bold brights and towards soft pastels and is Including vintage silk, velvet ribbon and hand-made silk flowers, “taking inspiration from the city of lights, Paris”.
