A new vision of Henry V inspired by Blitz-era London

Damien Ryan, artistic director of Sport for Jove theatre company, makes his Bell Shakespeare directing debut with a new take on Shakespeare's Henry V. It's inspired by a true story from World War II about a group of boys confined to an underground bunker during the Blitz who performed Shakespeare's plays for their fellow refuge seekers. In the years before D-Day, the story of Henry's righteous invasion of France with his brave "band of brothers" would have taken on a whole new resonance.
