Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

Set in the outer-west suburbs of Melbourne, Vile jumps from the 1990s to the present, following Melanie Ryder as a schoolgirl struggling to make sense of her family, to becoming an adult adrift. Acclaimed Australian playwright Hannie Rayson describes the work as "part suburban nightmare, part love story... as heartbreaking as it is tough". Rayson – who has written well-loved plays including Hotel Sorrento and Two Brothers – worked as dramaturg for Vile, which is young playwright Didem Caia's debut work at La Mama. It's directed by Elizabeth Millington.
