A collision of classical music and contemporary theatre
Quartet, the celebrated German playwright Heiner Muller's adaptation of Laclos’ Les Liaisons Dangeureuses, is an exquisite portrait of aristocratic decay and a meditation on the end of humankind.
In this remount of Xan Colman's critically acclaimed 2009 production, performed by Felicity Steel and Andrew Gray, the play is set with an original composition from Annie Hsieh, a suite for violin and cello, written on a theme suggested by Haydn’s string quartet in F minor Op.55 no.2 (“The Razor”), creating an exquisite dance of death between text and music. Presented by A Is for Atlas.
