Time Out Melbourne

Summertime in the Garden of Eden

This event has finished

It's back to the plantation for from super-hot items The Sisters Grimm. In its original DIY incarnation, this remarkable send up of Gone with the Wind was a five-star favourite for Time Out, ranked one of the best shows of 2012.

This is the story of Fairweather, the Washington family's sprawling estate set deep in the heart of Georgia. It is 1861, the year the North finally broke the South, and Georgia is on the brink. So are the Washingtons, a family of plantation aristocrats. It's cotton, slaves, land, land, land, Rhet and Scarlet, fiddle-dee-dee, drink, love and secrets.

This has been a big year for the Sisters -- Ash Flanders and Declan Greene -- who have not only debuted an epic new work as part of the Neon Festival of Independent Theatre but also seen inter-state tours of both Summertime in the Garden of Eden and Little Mercy. Catch them for one last fling as Summertime comes home.
