Vivid LIVE is just around the corner, and there's been some action around some of the acts headed our way. We've got you sorted...
Clubbing at the Opera House
Vivid LIVE announced the line ups for its Studio parties last week – the five nights of the festival where some of Sydney's best clubs and labels will run amok in the Opera House. There's Danny Brown and MED at Nights Like This, Tom Vek and Kindness for Modular Night, while Zola Jesus and Brooklyn's Light Asylum will tear up the FBI Radio and Penny Drop Party. The Future Classic Party has also announced its line up – including Isolée and Jacques Renault – and the Goodgod Danceteria night will showcase Egyptian Lover, Nicky Da Ba, No Zu and more. At $30 for each night, you really can't go wrong.
Sufjan and the boys add an extra show
The collaboration between prodigy and Sydney Festival favourite Sufjan Stevens, Bjork and Grizzly Bear collaborator Nico Muhly and the National guitarist Bryce Dessner is generation some pretty hectic buzz. And justifiably so. These guys are among the finest, most interesting musicians of their generation. They've just announced an extra date for their Vivid LIVE show, which features unique compositions inspired by the planets of our solar system. Dessner told us in a recent interview that even demoted Pluto gets a look in.
The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O
You might have a tough time getting in to see Florence Welch and her machine. But Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O's show, 'Stop the Virgens', still has a limited number of tickets left (which are now from just $59!), and the direct-from-NYC unique composition is not to be missed. Not just for the 30 actual virgins the casting directors had to find in our fair city. O, like Sufjan, is one of the most respected and fiercely independent artists around.
