This former mining town is about powder by day and top food by night

Ski and board

From beginner to advanced, there isn’t much that Breckenridge doesn’t offer. The beginner terrain is extensive; there all shades of blue runs and when it’s dumping down; and the blacks are up there with the best on the planet. The resort recently opened up a whole new lift-accessible ski area called Peak 6, which, like peaks 10, 9, 8 and 7, is above-treeline skiing. So it’s packed, groomed runs when it’s sunny and a powdery delight when there’s been a foot overnight. ‘Breck’ is owned by Vail Resorts and is one of the ski areas in the Epic Pass program – for USD$689 you can get unlimited skiing all season not just here, but at Vail, Beaver Creek and ten other resorts in the US, plus free five-day passes in Japan, Switzerland, Austria and France.
