Sayers Food

Leederville

At Sayers Fine Foods the produce is the star. The coffee is 5 Senses, the bread is Loafers Organic and Pioneer Farms supply the free-range eggs. The breakfast menu does the classics, but throws in a few surprises for the regular cafe crowd - give the beetroot cured salmon open omlette with baked ricotta a whirl, or maybe the banana and choclate bread with maple butter. 224 Carr Place, Leederville 6007 (08 9227 0429 www.sayersfood.com.au).

Canvas at Fremantle Arts Centre

Fremantle

The local cafe at the Fremantle Arts Centre is showing bringing out the big guns with a fascinating menu that takes its cues fro Spanish, Basque, Moorish, and Arab cuisines. Go all in and try the signature dishes known as Shakshukas. The red one involves eggs cooked in a tomato sauce with bread, olives and garlic butter, and the green option has spinach, mint, coriander and parley in addition to the eggs, feta, olives and garlic butter. 1 Finnerty St, Fremantle 6160 (08 9432 9562 www.canvasatfremantleartscentre.com).

Lowdown

West Perth

This schmick little cafe doles out single origin coffee, house made sweeties, a whole host of sambos for lunch on the fly and a carefully selected plyalist to accompany your morning, liquid heart-starter. 16a Cloisters Arcade, Hay St, West Perth 6000 (08 9226 3041 www.lowdownespresso.com.au).

Rochelle Adonis

Perth

Rochelle Adonis wears a lot of hats, but bakery, cafe, patisserie, high tea joint and general house of loveliness are the major ones. During the week you can brighten the cool weather blues with a coffee and a cakelet at the communal table, or make a day of it and book in for high tea or one of their coooking classes. 193 Brisbane St, Perth 6003 (08 9227 0007 www.rochelleadonis.com).

Soda Cafe

North Beach

Soda Cafe has everything youu want for brunch by the seaside. Stunning views, crisp ocean air, stacks of fresh seafood and a menu that is pulling no punches. All your favourites are represented - expect muesli, pancakes and eggs Benedict for brekky, and burgers, salt and pepper squid and perhaps a duck and porcini mushroom pie if it's a little later in the day. 251 West Coast Drive, North Beach 6020 (08 9448 7472 www.sodacafe.com.au).
