Family-friendly flicks

 A lot of Sydney cinemas offer kid-specific screenings for parents, generally with lowered volume for tiny ears and lights dimmed but not entirely turned off. It’s worth checking the individual websites for session times and all the details, and note that most cinemas suspend their special sessions during school holidays – just a heads up there. Thursday’s first session is their ‘Reel Mums” session, so if you fancy a first release art film without being worried that the small one will screech, this is perfect.

11am Thursday is their Babes in Arms session, screening their first release films in a small person-friendly environment.

Reading Cinema, Rhodes

Reading offers “crying rooms” at both their biggest cinemas: a soundproof room where the kids can make loads of noise while you can still watch the film through a window with sound coming through the speakers inside the room.
