Yep, it's still sleazy (oh, Porkys, never leave us!). And it's a helluva rowdy ride on a Saturday night. But we here at Time Out can't break it off with the 'Cross.
Our love might have something to do with the Kings Cross Hotel, the former biffo central that's gone all classy and fun and introduced the areas best live music venue in FBi Social. If you're after a more Ibrahim-tinged night out, Piano Room's your pick - Sydney's pretty people drinking pretty drinks with pretty music.
Old favourite, Hugo's will do you too. Cocktail lovers rave about Eau de Vie, and rightfully so - the bar tucked inside the Kirketon should be on everyone's Sydney bucket list. Newby the Roosevelt shows there's more to the 'Cross's drinking culture than stumbly blokes in tight tees.
Theatre, you say? Well, Griffin at the Stable Theatres is probably the most exciting play-making company in Sydney. History, you want? It's everywhere. And the 'Cross even has an Oporto's to boot!
