Fearless runners will head to Glenworth Valley to take on 5.13km of insane terrain featuring 10 big and bad obstacles. This is Warrior Dash - a mud-crawling, fire-leaping run from hell.

After conquering this extreme physical challenge, racers will celebrate with friends and family during an all-day festival with live music, food and beer.

In 2011, more than half a million selected Warrior Dash as an alternative to the classic 5km. Participants of all athletic abilities can expect new extremes for 2012, as Warrior Dash returns with a vengeance debuting more exciting and innovative obstacles than ever before.

“Warrior Dash is an event that competitors and spectators will never forget,” says race director Alex Yount. “The combination of mud, sweat and beer keeps people coming back each year for more.”

Masterminded by Chicago’s Red Frog Events, Warrior Dash is the world’s biggest running series with races taking place in 2012 in 65 locations in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland as well as New South Wales.

There’s also a feelgood aspect to this dash of the titans. Warrior Dash is partnered with St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2012, a research hospital in Memphis, Tennessee specialising in children’s catastrophic diseases. The St Jude Warriors programme encourages Warrior Dash racers to fundraise for St Jude. At each domestic Warrior Dash there will be a VIP area on-site complete with private showers, catering and a lounge area for those Warriors who raise more than $250. Warrior Dash hopes to raise more than $1 million for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the help of the 2012 participants.

Warrior Dash is also partnered with GreenSneakers, an organisation with a uniquely effective and environmentally friendly fundraising opportunity. With the help of Warriors, 168 tonnes of tennis shoes were donated and given a second chance at life in 2011.

To be part of the action and experience “the craziest frickin’ day of your life” this February, go to Warrior Dash.
