will.i.am plays the MCA building

The Black Eyed Pea makes the MCA his audio-visual plaything

The new MCA has been called many things: brilliant addition to the Sydney skyline, weird and boxy conjoined twin. What it's never been called is a music instrument... until now.

From this Friday, as part of the Vivid LIGHT festival, Black Eyed Pea will.i.am will transform the façade of the famous building into your musical plaything. Using a specifically designed interface designed by Sydney digital arts company Spinifex – and powered by an Intel processor – Sydneysiders will be able to literally "play the building". WTF? Well, future conductor, you can use your arms and hands to direct and rearange Mr i.am's loops and samples, control the tone and chord progression, and direct images being projected onto the façade created by Sydney artist Justene Williams.

Unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on your tastes – Fergie will not be in hand to supply your hook.
