Do the local deed and yawn your way through sourdough toast with poached eggs, smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce. Then top yourself up with a cup of the café’s own Single Origin blend. Give the walk of shame a miss and peruse the delicate racks that frame this beautiful boutique instead. A piece by DVS by Diane Von Furstenberg, McQ Alexander McQueen, M Missoni, Herve Leger, Marcus Lupfer, By Malene Birger or Jonathan Saunders is sure to restore your dignity, right? 2 Guilfoyle Ave, Double Bay 2028. 02 9328 9755. Mon-Fri 10am-6pm; Sat 10am-5pm; Sun 12am-5pm.

Pelicano
Get back on the booze horse at Andy Becher (co-owner Roxbury Hotel), Daimon Downey (Sneaky Sound System) and Charlie Hinckfuss’ latest venture. Blue- and white-striped bartenders sail the art-lined walls of this dapper vessel. The focus is rare whisky, but they have a fair capacity for the ol’ cocktail too. 24 Bay St, Double Bay 2028. 02 8021 4050. Tue-Sat until late.
