Play Me, I'm Yours - pianos around Sydney

British artist Luke Jerram will be plonking 30 pianos on the streets during Sydney Festival to see what happens.

Play Me, I'm Yours is as it sounds - an open invitation to all Sydneysiders to tinkle the ivories - and it came about through Jerram's observation of the lack of everyday communication.

"It's about providing a stimulus for everyone else's creativity, a blank canvas almost," he said when he placed 15 pianos around Birmingham recently.

"The pianos acted like a catalyst to actually get strangers talking, and claiming ownership of the public space."

In malls, parks and on a ferry, the pianos will give closeted players the opportunity to show their prowess.

Various locations in Parramatta & Sydney's CBD Sun 11 Jan-31 Jan.
