Cream on King
Chances are that the cute young thing dressed like an extra from Heathers bought her outfit from Cream on King. With a moderately priced, well-merchandised selection of clothes from the 1970s to the 1990s, Cream is a one-stop shop for all things retro, from flannel to floral to a big old pair of Docs.
Newtown

Grandma Takes a Trip

Affectionately known as Grandma's, this is not your average vintage store. Walking into one of the two Sydney shops is like turning on, tuning in and dropping out Timothy Leary-style to a veritable wonderland of the best that each generation of fashion had to offer.
Surry Hills & Bondi Beach

Mr Stinky's
If you have a lust for brightly coloured polyester and a few hours to rummage, Mr Stinky's is your dream store. This jam-packed premise contains the weird, the wonderful and everything in between at prices lower than a slapper's knickers.
Surry Hills

Pigeon Ground
Pigeon Ground is the shop everyone wishes they'd thought to open. If you're a newcomer to vintage, Pigeon Ground makes for a perfect introduction, with impeccably selected vintage gear, amazing records for the price that records should be, off-beat knick knacks and a generally happening vibe.
Camperdown

Puf'N Stuf
Just as dogs inevitably start to resemble their owners, so too do shops start to mould to their surroundings. Washed out colours and beach-friendly styles characterise this Bondi local, and old, threadbare band T-shirts have never seemed so appealing as on one of the golden-skinned young things that frequent the store.
Surry Hills

Rokit Gallery
For true devotees, this is the destination of choice for impeccably preserved clothing that sits firmly on the antique side of the vintage spectrum. Here you'll find anything from a floor-length red velvet gown to a suit fit for a 1920s dandy. It must be said that quality this good doesn't come cheap, but a purchase from Rokit is like owning a little piece of fashion history.
The Rocks

Scrags House of Fashion
Those interested in one-off finds will think they've died and gone to retro heaven once inside this inner-west store. The accessories selection is a standout, and their range of apparel for ladies and gents is not to be sneezed at. It takes a bit of delving, but the best vintage gems are always hidden ones.
Newtown

The Vintage Clothing Shop
Specialising in the upper echelon of vintage wears, this inner-city stalwart is where you'll find family heirloom-quality jewellery or a dress that could have easily belonged to a great aunt, minus the mothballs. A continually high standard of stock has fashion editors and vintage lovers alike returning to the Vintage Clothing Shop again and again.
Sydney

Zoo Emporium
Those with an eye for colour and print will appreciate Zoo's seemingly endless racks of modern vintage. The new multi-level shop houses more Lycra and leather than we ever thought possible, making it almost impossible to resist purchasing up a slice of your favourite era.
