Best for... retro fashion and furniture
Mitchell Road Auction House
This Marrickville fave looks like Sydney's own little imaginarium. Here you'll find retro furniture and clothes, antique dinner sets, one-off ornaments and amazing bargain pushbikes. We could happily get lost in this labyrinth for hours.

Best for...bikes, both the motor and push kinds
Deus ex Machina
The funky café-cum-bike store holds frequent auctions and swap meets for the cool kids of Sydney. Definitely worth a look if you're hoping to upgrade your ride.
The next Deus Motorcycle Day is on Sunday 19 June and the next Deus Bicycle Swap Meet is on Sunday 24 July.

Best for...antiques and art
Raffan Kelaher & Thomas
This is the place to go to source the best in antiquated furnishings. OTT chandeliers, fine china, uniquely upholstered furniture, rare woods...you name it, they'll source it. And if you win the bid, you're guaranteed you'll never see the same piece in another Sydney lounge room.
Antique auctions every Tuesday at 12 noon.

Best for...jewellery
ABA
ABA know their bling. Bid on a Victorian Brooch, an Art Nouveau ring or a 50s watch... It's the perfect auction for those who pride themselves on their unique throwback sense of style.
The next auction is on Monday 28 June, 5.30pm.

Best for...specialist art and memorabilia
John Williams
If you're after an Aussie relic, then this is where you should head. The auction house specialises in Australian collectibles and specialty memorabilia (ANZAC, for example).
Auctions held on the last weekend of the month.

Best for...super steals
Police/pawnbroker/mail/Central Station auctions
Have you ever wondered where unclaimed post, lost property and repossessed goods end up? To auction, of course. This is the source of serious bargains. Soon that oh-so-cheap-impossible-to-beat bike/fridge/phone will be all yours.
Combined Auctions will host the next Australia Post Auction on Thursday 10 June.
