Parramatta is developing a reputation for its Malaysian restaurants. Our current favourite is Temasek where we love the nasi lemak. It equals any of the ones you find in the food halls around the city and is more attractively presented. Wander down the street and get your noodle on at Hong Fu where hand-pulled northwest Chinese noodles are served. They also do excellent dumplings. Of course, if you want to support local producers, head to the Parramatta Farmers Market for fresh bread, jams and produce. Need a stiff drink after a day’s exploring? The Roxy feels like a Californian Spanish Mission picked up and dropped in Parramatta. Have a beer under the palm trees and admire the mission-style towers. There’s also a bistro, and DJs on Saturday nights.
