I woke up in… Bondi

Bondi Beach certainly isn’t a bad place to be on a Sunday morning. The surf will shake just about any sin of the previous evening, there’s plenty of awesome boutiques to cruise, and the cafés and bars can sate that hangover hunger

La Piadina
This little cafe/shopfront specialises in piadina: thin, slightly scorched flat bread made from dough rolled out super-thin, spread out on a hotplate and holding anything from nduja (a type of soft spicy sausage, a bit like paté; say it like en-doya) to mozzarella, salami, prosciutto or Nutella. An individual serve will shake you from the clutches of any hangover. Trust us.

Gertrude & Alice
Not ready for the walk of shame home? Head for this warm café-cum-secondhand bookstore in the heart of Bondi Beach. Pick out some reading material, then hit the sand.

Shop and Wine Bar
Fancy a post-swim tipple? This is the kind of place that if you visited twice they'd know your name and your poison. It's incredibly intimate (read: the size of a shoebox) and with only a handful of tables and chairs, you'll want to get in early. There are also a couple of tables outside but these are only any good in fine weather – even a hint of rain drives you straight inside and into the arms of a big red. Which, after the night you’ve had, may be your only saving grace.
