It's had several names over the years but be it Centrepoint Tower, AMP Tower or Sydney Tower, Sydney Tower Eye it is more than just a golden turret along Sydney's skyline. The tallest free-standing structure in Sydney and the second tallest in Australia, Centrepoint is also the southern hemisphere's third tallest observation tower and ranks as one of the safest buildings in the world capable of withstanding earthquakes and extreme wind conditions.

With a 960-person capacity, Sydney Tower Eye is made up of a shopping centre on street level, an observation deck up top, as well as two levels of restaurants (including 360 Bar and Dining), a coffee lounge, two telecommunications transmissions levels and the Oztrek and Skywalk facilities. In 2000 it was also decorated with three metal athlete statues that hung precariously from its the edge, until they were moved in 2003 to Sydney Olympic Park.

Offering sweeping views of the entire city as far as the Blue Mountains, Sydney Tower is a must-visit haunt a virtual reality ride across Australia's cultural history and geography, with all of its unique landscapes and viewpoints springing to life. Viewers experience 180-degree cinema screens, special effects, surround sound and real motion seating as they glide over Australia's most famous landmarks, go water rafting, play Australian Rules and soar right into the jaws of a croc.

The Skywalk is a heart-stopping tour at the top of Centrepoint. At 260 metres above Sydney, the daring can take a stroll on the rooftop of the city. At double the height of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and evenly matched with the Eiffel, venture across the glass floored viewing platform for the ultimate 360-degree view of Sydney. If you dare, of course.
