Pirrama Park is Sydney's newest foreshore oasis - 1.8 hectares of grasslands, tree-lined pathways, playgrounds and picnic/BBQ areas all with glorious views over Blackwattle Bay.
The former Water Police base snaffled up by the City from under the noses of developers in 2005 takes its name from the Gadigal word for 'rocking stone' and boasts a playground, a promenade marking the original shoreline and a 'Stevedore Walk' tribute to the wharves and workers once housed on the vegetation peninsula.
Best of all, Pirrama's kiosk is as green as its surrounds. It features sustainable solar panels, bio-filtration basins, a roof that tunnels stormwater into collection tanks, recycled timber decking and energy-efficiency lighting.
