Thirlmere was once home to the railway workers who created the Great Southern Railway from 1863 to 1867. At Trainworks they take great pride in the area's railway history. You can explore the historic station, the Station Master's Cottage (1891), and the Co-Op Shed (1908), as well as the exhibition building with displays and interactive exhibits on NSW rail history, and the Great Train Hall with all manner of railed vehicles to be explored.
