This event has finished

Drop in to catch the latest exhibitions, attend talks or workshops and enjoy a meal at Lights on Later, powered by GE, every Thursday evening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in The Rocks.

This month enjoy live music at Sounds on the Terrace, hear about the sun's rotation as you view its reflection in Anish Kapoor’s mesmerising 10-metre 'Sky Mirror', share your secrets in the Confession Booth, make some art from mystery materials at drop-in workshops and see controversial films in the Taboo film series.  Lights on Later is now open to the public every Thursday from 5pm to 9pm. Check out the Lights on Later website for more details.

Sounds on the Terrace
Thursdays 6.30pm-9pm, on the Sculpture Terrace
Experience the magic of Circular Quay at sunset from the prime vantage point of the MCA Sculpture Terrace this summer. Soak up the afternoon rays and watch the light fade as you listen to the effervescent sounds of up-and-coming instrumentalists and singer-songwriters. Enjoy great food, wine and other drinks from the MCA Cafe until 9.00pm. FREE, drop-in.

Confession Booth

Thursdays 6pm-7pm, throughout the Museum
We confess: we’d love to know your dirty little secrets. And we can keep a secret – promise. Have you done something naughty in the galleries? Or maybe you’re harbouring a secret art obsession, repressed opinion or artist crush. Maybe you want to confess that sometimes you just don’t get art. Tell us all. The project will culminate in a light-hearted event which will aim to portray the mischievous side of MCA audiences by reflecting responses back through performance. Confession Booth 3, 10, 17 and 24 January. Performance Jan 31. FREE, drop-in.

TABOO Film Series
Thursdays Jan 10-Feb 21, 7pm, Veolia Lecture Theatre
Witness some of the most controversial films of our time. Opening the series and setting the bar is Salò (120 days of Sodom) by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Made in 1975, Salò was banned in Australia until recently. Be challenged by the themes and content of this classic and other local and international films embodying the essence of TABOO. FREE, drop-in. Please be seated by 7pm; over 18s only.
