The Art of the Album

The Art of the Album offers a rare glimpse at some of music’s most iconic album covers as part of the Head On Photo Festival 2012. It also launches the world exclusive Peter Gabriel collection.

It’s not that you haven’t seen these covers before - it’s the scale at which you get to admire them. Being many times larger than a CD or vinyl cover affords the opportunity to appreciate the fine detail of each print that visually defined their respective albums.

The first prints you’ll see walking into Blender are of the tattooed faces of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The bright red behind Mick stops you in your tracks and draws you to the intricate designs covering his face. Mounted beside Mick is Keith’s profile looking away nonchalantly as the green of the print encourages you indoors.

Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy by Storm Thorgerson with its bright orange hues pulls your gaze along with many other covers from the likes of The Who, Pink Floyd, and of course Peter Gabriel.

Prints are individually signed by the photographer and available for sale.
