MCA's monthly Friday night blow-out: art, music, drinks and possibly embarrassing karaoke

On the last Friday of every month, Artbar – MCA's new after-hours event, sponsored by Audi – takes over the MCA with a mix of performance, music, art and fashion.

The Museum's public programs co-ordinator Clare Wilcox tells us that a different contemporary artist will take the reins to curate Artbar each month. "It will initially involve Australian artists but may engage international artists down the track".

The first Artbar event in May featured nude performance art, endurance table tennis and awesome house party-style karaoke.

Artbar will also be a great chance to see MCA's Biennale exhibition by cover of darkness. Needless to say, we can hardly wait.

On Friday August 31, Shaun Gladwell takes charge of the wheel delivering a special high octane edition of Artbar, making unique changes to the MCA Collection galleries for one night only!
