Artbar: September 2012

MCA's monthly Friday night blow-out: art, music, drinks and possibly embarrassing karaoke

First published on . Updated on .

This event has finished

On the last Friday of each month, Artbar – MCA's new after-hours event, sponsored by Audi – takes over the MCA with a mix of performance, music, art and fashion.

The Museum's public programs co-ordinator Clare Wilcox tells us that a different contemporary artist will take the reins to curate Artbar each month.  "It will initially involve Australian artists but may engage international artists down the track".

The first Artbar event in May featured nude performance art, endurance table tennis and awesome house party-style karaoke.

This month’s MCA ARTBAR is the Up in Smoke Tour presented by Daniel Boyd. Daniel takes us on a musical and informative journey into a modern-day interpretation of the enlightenment era, with DJs Captain Franco and Elston and, later in the evening, The Canyons enlightening us with a sound odyssey that promises to excite.

Artbar is held from 7pm-11pm and is for over 18s only. For more information or to book online, visit The Museum of Contemporary Art or Artbar's facebook page
