Join in the free festivities at Martin Place from 6pm to 10pm on Friday to celebrate the launch of the 11th annual Art & About festival. Enjoy free music, stunning art and food from Sydney's food trucks throughout the night. Co-presented by Modular, the Bamboos will headline the night with their live show, while celebrated synth-pop favourites Van She will keep the party going. Bands also playing will include Rüfüs and DJ duo Jingle Jangle.
In addition to a great night of free music, the $10,000 prize-winner of the much loved Sydney Life photography competition and its junior counterpart Little Sydney Lives will be announced.
After you’ve soaked up all the free music, walk, cycle or jump on one of the City’s six vintage double-decker buses for a free guided tour of the Art & About installations. Don your raincoat and visit the raining house, 'I Wish You Hadnt Asked', on Macquarie Street, or drop in on one of Sydney’s oldest haunts for Last Drinks – one more round at the Hotel Australia, anyone?
Continue the art party with a visit to Sydney’s major cultural institutions, which will stay open late to celebrate Art & About’s opening night: the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Australian Museum to the State Library of NSW, Museum of Sydney and Customs House Library.
