Ivy Art Attack - in bear form! The Premise:

At Time Out we often find the cocktail lists at Sydney's art galleries to be disappointing. In fact, mostly there is no cocktail list at all. It's a problem, but one for which we can see an immediate solution. Now you can sip your drink of choice and peruse the work of some of the city's coolest artists. We're talking about Ivy Art Attack. It's the latest initiative from Dead Space Living Artists, the crew who started the ABSOLUT Stairwell Gallery at Sugarmill. The concept here is similar: spaces within the Ivy complex will be transformed into gallery spaces. The Pool, Change Room and Foyer will become the new home for art pieces from a range of great local artists.

The Artists:

Arnie Arnold

Arnold, the founder and co-ordinator of Blank_Space Gallery, creates works that walk the fine line between commercialism and art. His works draw heavily from mass culture and blend a wide variety of mediums. Here Arnold will be exhibiting Orchid Series, a collection of mixed media paintings.

Andy Uprock
In the last few years Andy Uprock has been cuprocking his way around the world. For those who haven't yet witnessed to his unique medium, cuprocking involves Mr Uprock inserting plastic cups into wire fences in a graffiti art-meets-braille-poetry kind of way.

Paul Winkler
Paul Winkler has long been at the heart of Australia's experimental film scene. For the past 30 years Winkler has been drawing on Australian iconography to expertly blend intellect and emotion. A selection of films will be exhibited.

Mia Oatley
Mia Oatley is an up-and-coming Australian artist Squat since graduating from the National Art School in 2005. The continental sabbatical greatly influenced both the form and content of her art, and here Oatley will be showcasing a mixed media light-box installation.

Louis Pratt
Louis Pratt's distorted sculptures are influenced by science fiction and fantasy. Common forms such as the human skull are contorted in a playful yet unsettling manner, sandwiching the works between familiarity and the unknown.

The Movement
The Movement blend cartooning, Cubism, realism and Expressionism under the big street art umbrella we call ‘graffiti', and the works mirror a constantly evolving urban environment.

Shopfront
Shopfront is a contemporary arts centre for people under 25. They run an arts residency program that allows for the mentoring of three young artists from across Australia. Some of the artworks developed during the programs will be exhibited here.
