17th Biennale of Sydney in pictures

The 17th Biennale of Sydney, titled 'The Beauty of Distance: Songs of Survival in a Precarious Age', opened on 12 May at venues around the city. This exciting show of international contemporary art is free to visit and continues until 1 August. Artworks are concentrated on Cockatoo Island and the Museum of Contemporary Art, but there are also displays at Pier 2/3 Walsh Bay, the Opera House, Royal Botanic Gardens, Art Gallery of New South Wales and Artspace, Woolloomooloo.
