That time of year has rolled around again, folks: the Time Out Bar Awards are back for the fourth time on Mon 24 Oct. To celebrate the city’s bar culture, and to launch their brand new 2012 Bar Guide, the Time Out team is set to throw one helluva party at brand new Taylor Square venue, The Standard.

Join the Time Out team in toasting the city’s bar culture with cocktails including a Buffalo Trace Maple Old Fashioned, Ultimate Vodka Martini and Green Fairy Original Czech Absinth Wicked Party Punch.

To compliment these tipples, world-renowned chef Lennox Hastie of Spain’s Etxebarri will be at the helm of a one-off pop-up restaurant in partnership with Sydney restaurant gun John Fink (Quay, Otto). “I jumped at the chance to play ball with the Time Out crew, especially for the bar awards,” says Fink. “Food is very important for a city’s bar scene. The challenge for Sydney is to move away from the lazy ‘jar food’ and present original tasty treats.”

Cocktails and coal-fired treats will be coupled with a cutting edge line-up of live entertainment, hand-picked by the Time Out editors. Fanny Lumsden and her Band (read our interview here) will be belting out country fried goodness, while contortionist Billie Bradshaw will twist, turn and tumble. Bunny Hoop Star will hoola hoop her way into your heart. DJs Joe Laney (GoodGod) and James McInnes (Future Classic) will keep the party keepin' on, while the Black Cherry crew will kick off the after party downstairs in Lo Fi with back-to-back DJs spinning awesome 50s tunes. Phew!

“It's important to us that we put on a great party,” explains Rigby. “Sydney's bartenders work incredibly hard to keep us drinking well, and it’s the least we can do to celebrate all that effort with one incredible night of burlesque, bands, and of course Lennox Hastie’s amazing food.”
