SHAKEDOWN TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT

Tonight, Time Out will be hosting the ultimate cocktail contest – a winner-takes-all battle royale between Sydney and Melbourne's most brilliant bartenders: the second annual Time Out Shakedown. And you will decide the winner!

Head to the Standard to catch Sydney’s Brendan Keown (of The Hazy Rose, wielding Green Fairy) and Simon McGoram (Gardel’s Bar, doing battle with Pussers) battle Melbourne’s Evan Stanley (Black Pearl, making magic with Buffalo) and Jacob Taylor (Lily Blacks, creating gold with Hayman gin), while Neilsen Braid (Rockpool Bar & Grill) defends his hard won 2011 title.

And it’s you, cocktail fans, who’ll determine whose skills most comprehensively pay the bills. All you have to do is nab a ticket to the event. For a mere $40, you'll try a cocktail by each of the finalists, as well as Sunshack ciders, beers from Little Creatures, wine from New Generation Hunter Valley and non-boozy beverages provided (responsibly) by CCA.

Hungry? Hoe down on snacks care of Grill’d, Lindt and Gelatissimo and have the chance to win some sweet, sweet lucky door prizes including cocktail books care of Murdoch, Sunshack Cider packs and some cool bar gadgets thanks to Uber Bar Tools. To top it off there will be live entertainment from Slide Cabaret's El Circo team, and much much more.

The winning bartender walks away with a set of Bang & Olufsen Beosound 8 speakers, two night's stay in Melbourne's Crown and $500 bar tab at Hoo Haa, a Murdoch Books pack, $500 worth of products from Uber Bar Tools and a bottle of Southtrade's finest.
