Mojo Record Bar

Bar manager Natalie Ng and team recently opened the doors on this excellent little bar, just across the hall from Mojo records. There's no food, but they'll order you a pizza or open up a bag of Twisties, if you're good. If you get drinking before 8.30pm, you can even take your Lemon Cohen (pretty much all the brown boozes in the world with a lemon twist) into the shop and make a few boozy purchases.

Darlinghurst

This bonza Crown Street cocktail bar offers a $20 roast chicken with potato salad and 'slaw on Sunday evenings. If that’s not a good reason to get down and try a Chartreuse Schoolbus (a shake-up of gin, yellow chartreuse, St Germain and lemon juice) while eating a whole chicken, we’re not sure what is. Be sensible, people.

This beachside speakeasy is brought to you by the Miss Marley’s folks. The cocktails are classic, the bar is dark and good manners are a must.

Rockpool Bar & Grill

Sydney’s best-smelling restaurant also boats one of the most beautiful cocktail bars staffed by a crack team including Ryan Gavin and Neilson Braid. Order up a Red Snapper, a few packets of the house-made beef jerky (or a chocolate-chip cookie) and make like a boss.

Just because Button’s opened doesn’t mean you should drop Stitch. Now that the inner city has become somewhere excellent to drink (there’s Mojo, Baxter, Grandma’s and La Bodeguita just to name a few), it’s more reason than ever to make drinking here a priority.
