Sydney's great hotels also boast some pretty spectacular bars

Marble Bar

Sydney

Well-heeled visitors from the upstairs hotel rub shoulders with corporate types and theatregoers keen for a pre-drink beneath the ornately carved ceilings of this stately establishment.

Blu Bar on 36

The Rocks

Blu Bar is the best place in Sydney to down a cocktail while floating up in the clouds. Embedded high in the Shangri-La tower, it has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Sydney Harbour in all her glory.

Water Bar

Woolloomooloo

Water Bar takes up prime real estate on Woolloomooloo Wharf inside the BLUE Sydney Hotel. The drinks are great, the staff very attentive and the whole complex has a cool industrial-warehouse-on-the-water thing going on.

The Bar

The Rocks

If log fires, mahogany, overstuffed armchairs, Dean Martin and a nip of aged, peaty whisky sound like something you might be interested in, you could do worse than pull up a stool at The Bar.

Zeta Bar

Sydney

Zeta Bar: the playland of would-be alphas, going hard on the European beers, firm handshakes and top-notch cocktails on level four of the Sydney Hilton.
