On Monday October 25, Time Out Sydney held its third annual Bar Awards at restaurant and bar hotspot, Porteño.

Deal Or No Deal’s Andrew O’Keefe hosted the evening. Between soulful swamp tunes from local Sydney band the Snowdroppers, the super cute vocal stylings of plucky songstress Lanie Lane, South American snacks and free-flowing cocktails, it was a hell of a night.
 
Guests enjoyed tipples from John Boston beer, 42BELOW vodka; Green Fairy absinthe; Patron tequila; Tuaca vanilla liqueur; Monteith’s cider; Tempus Two and Mad Fish wines and Schweppes soft drinks.

his award goes to the pub that combines a well poured beer, friendly bar staff and a convivial atmosphere with a bit of history thrown in.

BEST ENTERTAINMENT

This award celebrates bars with games, performances and events. The winner wil be the bar that combines great service and atmosphere with exceptional entertainment.

BEST COCKTAIL BAR

The nominees for Best Cocktail Bar are all innovators who can also make the classics, educate new cocktail drinkers rather than intimidate, and, most importantly, pour a good drink.

BEST WINE BAR

The award for Best Wine Bar will go to the bar that not only displays great wine knowledge and an interesting list but also the ability to create an exceptional drinking experience.

The Best Design category is reserved for a bar offering a fresh take on interiors and decor.

This award goes to the most exciting bar that's opened in the past 12 months and captured the hearts and minds of Sydney drinkers.

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE AWARD

This award is for the bar that epitomises the responsible service of alcohol - providing an atmosphere where drinkers can be educated on the joys of liquor without the threat of drunkenness.

The winning bar will go beyond crisps and peanuts, offering innovative bar snacks without quite entering into restaurant territory.
