Perch yourself on the footpath under the leafy plane trees and watch as hip floor staff administer a lurid plate of padron peppers, a minefield of small, bulbous green mini-capsicums with the ideal accompaniment in a glass of ultra-fresh, tangy Argueso manzanilla sherry. Snacks come thick and fast: zucchini flowers are a highlight, with a macabeo, or try the lightly spiced meatballs and a deeply coloured tempranillo from Rioja. With perhaps the city’s best range of Spanish and Spanish-inspired tipples, the wine list is a certified highlight. Moechtar seems omnipresent; a warm host who happily takes his wine bar patrons on vinous journeys from the textured whites of Yecla, to spicy reds of Navarra.
