Randwick Ritz – would be proud to see this latest addition to the stunning local cinema. Bar Ritz, with its art deco furnishings, sleek down-lit bar and speccy view is The Spot’s best kept secret. The bar itself is a modest offer with a few choice selections of liqueur, beer and wine and though there’s nothing on tap, they have nice cold beer glasses as well as some fancy mineral water. According to the bartender ‘we’re not set up for cocktails’ but they do have Campari and white wine, which means Italian summer time favourite – biciclettas – all round and he’ll also do a Singapore Sling, if you ask. The 40s style bar is a nice piece of furniture, but they need to turn the lighting down and lose the fl at screen tellies- the only black mark against an otherwise cool scene. Not to mention the bathrooms with original fi ttings and attractive old mirrors. Chips and nuts are as far as bar snacks go, but hey, there’s always popcorn from downstairs and there’s no better place than the balcony to spend Saturday afternoon waiting for the nine o’clock screening. Perfect for a summer session.
