This very hip yet thoroughly unpretentious complex opened in 2005, and there’s nothing quite like it in Surry Hills, land of fab restaurants but very few hotels. On the ground floor is Players, an airy pub converted from an 1880s hotel, plus an upscale wine shop. Level two features Dome, a sexy cocktail bar complete with chandeliers, a glass bar and a huge mural based on François Boucher’s baroque painting Girl Reclining. Last but not least are the hotel rooms, equally stylish and featuring deluxe extras such as L’Occitane bath products, Egyptian cotton bedlinen and wall-mounted 42-inch plasma screen TVs.
