Nothing good ever happens at Goldfish. Or, so the saying goes. But those people are probably recalling its previous incarnation as the Goldfish Bowl, before (smooth) operators Ben Walsh and Dan Rice took over. Located smack on the corner of Victoria and Darlinghurst Roads, Goldfish offers everything from a Roast Capsicum and Paprika Margarita through to a vodka and lemonade, if either’s your thing. It is a veritable mix of locals and out-of-towners, industry-folk and Saturday night revellers, Negroni drinkers and bourbon and coke lovers. Get there between 6 and 8pm Monday to Friday and they’ll give you 49 per cent off the entire menu. What better time to see what all the fuss about Dom Perignon is, or to try that $97 shot of Patron Burdeos, the granddaddy of all tequilas? Open till the wee hours of the morning, they also have a decent late-night snack menu. Plus, if you’re out of town, they also have a sister venue, Goldfish Hunter Valley.
