Been to Emmilou? It's the Bourke Street bar offering a mix of classic cocktails and Spanish-inspired snacks. The bartenders are friendly and approachable, offering spiced nuts and olives on arrival. Much of the seating to be had is under the stoop outside, making this a place at its best in Sydney’s summer months. Get there early for a bar-front seat and $10 cocktail special from 5–7pm. The list itself changes regularly, but try a Tequila Bramble (Ocho tequila, berry puree) or an Emmilou Manhattan – a pitch-perfect stir-up of Rittenhouse rye, Carpano Antica formula and a dash of whisky barrel aged bitters. Food-wise, the Spanish standards are all here in force, with just enough variety to please most palates. Visit Emmilou for good summer times and a few drinks in the mix.
